This book presents the results of the Mart study, an action funded under the TIDE (Technology Initiative for Disabled and Elderly people ) programme of the European Commission. The main objectives were to indentify the range of applications, analyse their requirements for telecommunications facilities, assess the extent to which developments in the telecommunications world and in social policy are supportive of the diffusion and take-up of the applications, and make disabled people will be in a position to avail themselves of the opportunities that the Information Society present.
