Since its foundation in 1914, Ohmsha has been publishing books and magazines in most major fields of science and technology such as information science, telecommunications, electrical and electronic engineering, applied physics, mechanical control, architecture and civil engineering, air conditioning, chemical and environmental sciences, life science and medical electronics. Those books include textbooks for college courses, technical books, learned books including ones in English language, practical books for engineers in the field and reference books for certifying examinations. Titles of our five monthly magazines are: "OHM - Comprehensive Technical Magazine", "SHINDENKI (Basic Electrical Engineering)", "DENKI TO KOJI (Electrical Construction)" and "SETSUBI TO KANRI (Building Facilities and Facility Management)". We also publish a by-monthly "ROBOCON MAGAZINE" and a quarterly English journal "NEW GENERATION COMPUTING". Ohmsha also has been active in foreign projects which include co-publications with major publishers in Europe, North America and Asia, a joint venture with Science Press (Beijing) and IOS Press (Amsterdam) as well as other joint projects with fellow publishers in China and Korea. In the domestic scene, Ohmsha publishes many titles in conjunction with major Japanese learned societies such as, The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, Information Processing Society of Japan, The Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, The Illuminating Engineering Institute of Japan and Institute of Electrical Installation Engineers of Japan, besides distributing technical journals issued by major manufacturers such as Hitachi, Toshiba, Mitsubishi and Toyota. With the aim of contributing to the development and progress of science and technology in Japan, Ohmsha also established The Promotion Foundation for Electrical Science and Engineering in 1951 through which OHM Technology Award is given every year to those who made significant achievements in the field of electrical engineering. The foundation also organizes an annual lecture meeting in April where recent studies of the related fields are introduced. |
